The cannabis industry is today one of the highest taxed industries in the state. LEAP needlessly raises taxes another 5% to 30% in some communities, but offers little or no payoff for taxpayers. LEAP even raises taxes on Coloradans using marijuana to relieve nausea and other medical conditions – like seizures, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder and cancer.
This initiative imposes a regressive tax on people’s pain, especially veterans, teachers and the elderly who need cannabis for medicine but can’t get a medical card.
